Being Christ-like is not easy, it takes work.
Even a paraplegic needs work to strengthen faith. Controlling lustful thoughts, being honest, and resisting anger do not happen naturally. It takes work.

I believe it is more appropriate to say that faith is the exercise of humility and doing what God would have you do. So many different leaders try to make a point differently on this issue but if you simplify it, it falls to one thing. to have faith means to be a follower of the Lord. Some preachers would want to say that what they say is the truth and not any other explanation. When someone tries to prove something or that they have the best explanation ever, that's when they get lost because what works in them is pride and not understanding. As simple as it is faith can be understood by anyone from reading the scriptures. With all those examples in the scriptures it is sufficient to understand what faith means. What makes a man think that he has the correct explanation and others don't. I don't see how it is necessary for anyone to try to be better than anybody in explaining the scripture. The Lord enlightens anyone's understanding and not because of anybody's education. Theologians actually put themselves higher than others because they think that they understand the Bible better than others. During the Lord's ministry He called ordinary people to be His disciples and not those that are highly educated. This demonstrates the fact that anyone who humbles himself before God will understand the scriptures and not because you went to some schooling. Faith alone is argued upon by different sects. But why? Please understand that the Lord can enlighten anyone's mind or heart and that's the right of every person. You shouldn't take that from anyone.
  • Hi, am I allowed to make a comment here?...

Well, I hope that I am not persecuted for speaking some truth.

I don't have the NIV Bible so I am just going to put down what is in the king james version.

    Read JAMES chapter 2

I always thought that faith was a verb, an action word, like being faithful; faithful in keeping the commandments, or in living as best as you can by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

So, faith is not empty; unless it is dead, faith must be full of works if it is to be true faith, faith must be done with your hands not just your mouth. I love Jesus Christ, I am striving to live as he did, and I can learn better how to do that by reading his words in the Bible and especially in the Book of Mormon.
